For More Space Below
Consider the 16- or 18-inch options when storage is a priority, then measure the usable opening. A thick mattress on an 18-inch frame creates a taller bed, which also changes access and the relationship to your nightstand.

Hafenpo lists its core metal platforms as needing no box spring. Your mattress still needs support that meets its manufacturer’s requirements.
Check the clear gap between adjacent slats, the support through the center and any required foundation or support board. A load-capacity claim alone does not answer those questions.
One 14-inch Queen customer raised a concern about slat spacing with a hybrid foam mattress. Treat that as a reason to check the exact frame and mattress combination, rather than a confirmed spacing measurement for every Hafenpo model.
If the two sets of requirements do not match, ask your mattress maker which support solution is acceptable. Include the thickness of any approved extra layer when calculating the final bed height.
Make the Space Useful

An 18-inch frame is not automatically an 18-inch storage opening. Rails, supports and the route between the legs determine what can slide underneath.
- Check the Lowest Obstacle. Measure a container with its lid, handles and wheels included, then compare it with the lowest rail or support along its path.
- Check Between the Legs. The bin must pass through the entry opening and around any center supports, not simply fit inside the bed’s footprint.
- Check the Pull-Out Space. Leave enough room beside the bed to retrieve the bin without moving other furniture. Keep exposed frame legs out of your regular walking route where possible.
For a small room, a useful storage space is one you can reach regularly. Choose around the whole route, as well as the height.

Match the Connection
Buying a platform frame and adding a separate headboard is different from buying a model with a headboard and footboard included. Check the selected product’s contents before planning the room around either setup.
For an add-on headboard, confirm mounting-hole positions, bolt sizes and any adapter requirements. Visible holes or slots alone do not establish a match with every headboard.
Check Accessories Separately
