Space-saving beds for the way your room works.
Start with the structure that solves your biggest constraint—floor space, storage, flexibility, or an extra place to sleep.
Murphy Beds
Fold the bed into the wall to reclaim floor space when the room needs to serve another purpose.
Cabinet Beds
Keep a guest bed inside a freestanding cabinet without permanently attaching hardware to the wall.
Storage Beds
Add drawers, lift-up storage, or shelving beneath the mattress without using more floor area.
Loft Beds
Raise the sleeping surface and use the space underneath for a desk, seating, storage, or play.
Daybeds
Combine sofa-style seating with a single sleeping surface for flexible rooms and occasional guests.
Trundle Beds
Slide a second sleeping surface beneath the main bed and pull it out only when it is needed.

Measure the frame.
Leave room to move.
A Queen mattress and a Queen bed frame can take up different amounts of space. Check the assembled frame dimensions, then allow for walking, doors and opening drawers.
- Queen mattress
- 60 × 80 in
- Example bed frame
- 64 × 84 in
In a 10 × 10 ft room, this example frame leaves 28 in on each side and 36 in at the foot, before adding other furniture.

Fast guidance for the measurements, bed types, and room-planning choices shoppers ask about most.
Still deciding? Contact us →What type of bed is best for a small bedroom?
It depends on the room’s main constraint. Storage beds reduce the need for extra furniture, Murphy beds free the most floor area when closed, cabinet beds suit flexible guest spaces, and loft beds create usable space below the mattress.
How much space should I leave around a bed?
Our calculator uses 30 inches as a comfortable planning target and 24 inches as a compact target on accessible sides and at the foot. These are planning guides, not universal requirements. Use the full frame and allow for doors, drawers and the sleeper’s access needs. Read the clearance guidance.
Is a Murphy bed better than a cabinet bed?
A Murphy bed usually reclaims more floor space and can use a conventional mattress, but it typically requires secure anchoring. A cabinet bed is freestanding and simpler to relocate, though its closed cabinet still occupies floor area.
Can a queen bed fit in a 10 × 10 room?
A 60 × 80-inch Queen mattress fits physically. An estimated 64 × 84-inch frame leaves 28 inches on each side and 36 inches at the foot when centered in an empty 10 × 10-foot room. Doors and furniture still need space. Compare the 10 × 10 layouts.
Do storage beds need extra opening space?
Yes. Side drawers need lateral clearance, while lift-up platforms need vertical room and comfortable access from the foot or side. Check drawer extension and lift direction before choosing the bed’s position.
How much ceiling clearance does a loft bed need?
Subtract the mattress surface height from the ceiling height, then allow enough sitting room above the mattress. Also check the mattress-thickness limit so the guardrails remain effective.
What should I measure before ordering a space-saving bed?
Record room width, length, ceiling height, door and closet swing, baseboards, outlets, windows, fixed furniture, and the delivery route. For moving beds, measure both the closed and fully open footprint.
How does Small Room Beds evaluate products?
We compare verified dimensions, room-fit requirements, materials, assembly, anchoring, mattress compatibility, daily operation, delivery, warranty, returns, and recurring owner feedback. We explain important tradeoffs rather than relying on one score.
